The aim of this website is to provide information on all of the air raids, on each of the 103 dates, when German airships or aeroplanes bombed Britain during World War One. It may come as a surprise, but many of the raids bombed small villages rather than major cities as aerial navigation at this time was in its infancy.
Because of this, the details of some raids have been overlooked in the past as they are not easy to locate. A glance at the 'Raid Index' tab will demonstrate the random nature of German bombing.
I hope through this website to highlight this aspect of the First Blitz as well as covering the raids on major towns and cities.
A lot of new research is necessary to uncover this detail, but I hope to keep at least 6 months ahead of the centenary of each raid.
Because of this I would appreciate it if you contact me via the website if you wish to use any of my text for other purposes as I retain the copyright.
This website will continue to develop over the next couple of years until it eventually tells the complete story of Britain's First Blitz.
